Recap: College admissions seminar

On October 25, the first panel of our alumni outreach program was held: the college admissions seminar. Our four panelists shared valuable insights into their high school and parenting stories. Some topics discussed were Joy Xie (MIT ‘29 and AAASE Junior Board former co-president) about her experiences and olympiad awards, Jerry Gu (Stanford ‘28) about his entrepreneurship journey, William Zhang (UPenn ‘29) on his unique essay about a Chinese singer, and Patrick Ho with some profound parenting tips. 

This event is the first of more to come. In the future, Webinar mode on Zoom will be used for accessibility and more perspectives will be shared.

Update: Podcast series

New and returning members have confirmed their podcast responsibilities. Each month from December to April will feature a new episode on the “Let’s Talk U” podcast. Past guests and topics have included Qianwen LLM Director Dr. Fei Huang on the future of AI, Co-founder of Valley101 Qian Chen on Storytelling, and CEO of A2C Academy Dr. Elizabeth Xu on community and leadership skills. This year, two board members per episode will interview more guests from various backgrounds who will share their perspective, insights, and advice.

Social media

With the increase in help this year for the junior board, new ideas for YouTube, Instagram, and other social media content were brainstormed in the last meeting. A short interview with Esther Wojcicki from the 2025 camp demo day on the YouTube channel already has over 14,000 views. Some ideas for future content from board members include DECA, Robotics, and college admissions tips, as well as more interviews.
