Alumni Outreach Program Launch

We’re excited to announce the new AAASE alumni outreach program. It’s designed to connect the community with alumni students and parents who have gone on to pursue exciting paths in college and beyond. This addition to the AAASE junior board west initiatives was made possible by this year’s influx of new members and ideas.

The program’s first event will be a College Admission & Career Advancement Panel on October 25 at 6pm EST on Zoom, featuring Jerry Gu (Stanford ‘28), William Zhang (UPenn ‘29), Joy Xie (MIT ‘29), and Patrick Ho, father to Johnny Ho, co-founder of Perplexity AI.

Together, they will share valuable insights about college experience, tips for admissions, STEM career paths, and building meaningful impact through innovation. Registration is live at tinyurl.com/AAASEAlumPanel for the webinar.

ACE Tutoring 2025-2026

All classes have officially been announced, and the first session, Intro to French, will kick off this month to mark the start of an exciting journey for our learners. This year’s lineup features an even wider range of subjects, from humanities and language to media and STEM. Visit https://www.aaasejuniorwest.com/catalogue to explore the full course options and to register. The class start dates vary across the next few months, so there is still plenty of time to sign up and choose a course.

Creating this year’s tutoring schedule was a multi-step process. Each Junior Board member designed their own curriculum and class schedule based on their personal passions and expertise. This ensures a diverse range of subjects and approaches, so students can learn in ways that are both engaging and effective. The website itself was set up by our vice presidents with help from the board advisors. We hope to help students through engaging and effective tutoring sessions. Join us in supporting AAASE in a year of discovery, growth, and learning.

New Members

The Asian American Academy of Science and Engineering’s Junior Board West is stepping into 2025 with new initiatives, fresh members, and renewed energy for its existing programs.

This year marks a big expansion for the Junior Board West, with new enthusiastic members joining as alumni of the summer camp nationwide or from other local outreach initiatives. These additions bring fresh ideas and perspectives to enhance the program's effectiveness and impact.

Returning officers have proactively worked to welcome and train the new members by running meetings. A podcast workshop is coming up to help them learn the ropes of interviewing, editing, and production for the continuing “Let’s Talk U” podcast.
